Stop Scams UK partners with BBC for Scam Safe 2024
Stop Scams UK is once again partnering with the BBC to bring you Scam Safe week.
Following the success of last year’s campaign, the new edition of Scam Safe week will feature content from across the BBC including TV, radio, iPlayer, Sounds and online.
Starting on November 23, shows covering scam-related content will include BBC Morning Live, Rip Off Britain, The One Show, Bargain Hunt, Countryfile and Eastenders. The special week of programming across national and local television and radio, is designed to spotlight what viewers can do to protect themselves and those they love from being scammed.
While preparing for the campaign, Stop Scams UK has played a key role in helping BBC producers develop consumer messaging based on expert advice while constantly liaising with members ahead of the week-long event.
Ruth Evans, Chair of Stop Scams UK, said: “We believe the partnership between Stop Scams UK and the BBC underscores the importance of giving the public the tools they need to best defend themselves against scams.”
This year will also see the first ever Scam Safe roadshow taking place across England and Wales with the aim of raising awareness about scams and fraud, providing vital support and education.
The dates and locations of the Scam Safe roadshows are as follows:

- BBC Radio Wales in Cardiff – Tuesday 26 November
- BBC Radio Cumbria in Carlisle – Wednesday 27 November

Stop Scams UK members will be present at each day of the roadshow where they will meet members of the public and offer advice on all things scam-related. Members will also be promoting 159, the safe and easy way to contact your bank if you ever get an unexpected call that asks you for financial or personal information.
Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer, said: “Our dedicated week-long initiative will bring together efforts from across the BBC to provide people with the tools they need to protect themselves and start that national conversation. With our expertise and diverse platforms, we are uniquely positioned to engage and empower audiences against getting deceived by scams.”
All of the BBC’s scam-related content will be accessible through the Scam Safe website and promoted across the BBC’s social media platforms throughout the week using the hashtag #BBCScamSafe.
